Volleyball Preview: Sonora Wildcats vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets

The Sonora Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hilmar Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sonora can't be too worried about heading out to take on Hilmar: they just beat Orestimba at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Sonora sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Orestimba on Tuesday.

Sonora wouldn't go down easily and took Orestimba into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 22-25, 21-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Hilmar waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cougars.

Hilmar had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-12.

Hilmar had a senior duo take command as Sophie Stivers had 11 digs and Teygan Horstmeier had 12 digs.

Sonora's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Hilmar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.
