Softball Recap: Tucker County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Tucker County came out on top against Preston on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Mountain Lions were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Knights. Considering the Mountain Lions have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Hicks made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sutton Pase, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Bella Loucks also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tucker County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Preston only managed ten hits.

Tucker County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Preston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tucker County beat Preston by a score of 8-7 later that day.
