Basketball Recap: Starmont Comes Up Short

Starmont lost against Alburnett back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Starmont Stars were dealt a 72-40 defeat at the hands of the Alburnett Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Pirates are ranked 65th).

Starmont has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Alburnett, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Starmont will challenge Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Starmont surely won't give up without a fight. As for Alburnett, they will venture away from home to take on Central City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alburnett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Central City likes a good challenge.
