2A Region 7 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Jordyn Kees' Big Game Leads Loyd Star over Amite County

Starting off the list is Loyd Star's Jordyn Kees, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Kees rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 149 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Kees must have Amite County's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Kees last faced the Trojans back in October of 2023, he rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns.

Loyd Star Wins Fifth-Straight Thanks to Phillip Ross Spencer

Loyd Star picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Phillip Ross Spencer. Nobody could stop Spencer as he rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 21 yards and a touchdown.

This year, Spencer has thrown 5 touchdowns while averaging 32.1 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he had two rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to eight.

Kewan Miner Delivers Best Effort of Season

On Friday, Amite County had to settle for second even though Kewan Miner put up the best numbers he has all season. Miner rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Amite County is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. Miner and Amite County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wilkinson County at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.
