Softball Game Preview: Lynnville-Sully Hawks vs. Baxter

The Lynnville-Sully Hawks will take on Baxter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lynnville-Sully is looking for their season's first victory.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Lynnville-Sully and Iowa Valley, and Iowa Valley kept the tradition alive. The Hawks came up short against the Tigers on Wednesday, falling 16-8.

Meanwhile, Baxter had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Colo-NESCO on Wednesday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Baxter's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Lynnville-Sully's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Baxter, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6.

Lynnville-Sully got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in June of 2025 against Baxter by a conclusive 13-5 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do Baxter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
