Baseball Recap: Pine Grove Takes a Loss

Pine Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tamaqua Raiders. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 11-1.

Wyatt Snyder made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pine Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Tamaqua, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-11.

Pine Grove and Tamaqua could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Cardinals (ranked 391st) will meet Pottsville (ranked 181st) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Tamaqua will take on Marian Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (552 vs. 258).
