Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Zion Braves vs. Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs

Mt. Zion has won six straight games at home, while Mahomet-Seymour has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Mt. Zion Braves will welcome the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Mt. Zion knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Mahomet-Seymour likes a good challenge.

Mt. Zion is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They took down Danville 65-46. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th in Illinois, while the Vikings are ranked 242nd in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mahomet-Seymour beat Decatur Eisenhower 65-60 on Wednesday.

Mahomet-Seymour is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points over those games. Mt. Zion's win bumped their record up to 23-9.

Mt. Zion didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Mahomet-Seymour in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 63-57 victory. Will Mt. Zion repeat their success, or does Mahomet-Seymour have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
