Baseball Recap: Tri Comes Up Short

Tri had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-18-1 to make it four. They lost 14-4 to the Winchester Community Golden Falcons. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 17-2 to the Golden Falcons when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Tri saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kain Knepley, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Winchester Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Considering they have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Winchester Community's side, Bryce Tippett made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Tippett a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Winchester Community let Landen Porfidio and Aidan Weatherhead run wild. Porfidio went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Weatherhead went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That home run was Porfidio's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dravin Whitehead, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri will host Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Winchester Community, they will welcome Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
