Baseball Game Preview: Southern Guilford Storm vs. Eastern Guilford Wildcats

Southern Guilford is 1-9 against Eastern Guilford since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Southern Guilford is taking a road trip to square off against Eastern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southern Guilford has seven straight victories, Eastern Guilford has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Southern Guilford had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt High Point Central on Friday. Southern Guilford's pitchers stepped up to hand High Point Central a 15-0 shutout. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Storm this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Eastern Guilford challenged Dudley on Friday. Eastern Guilford came up short against Dudley, falling 15-4. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Southern Guilford's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Eastern Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Southern Guilford might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Eastern Guilford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Southern Guilford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
