Volleyball Game Preview: Medford Mustangs vs. Somerville Highlanders

Medford is 0-6 against Somerville since April of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Mustangs will head out to face off against the Highlanders at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Wednesday, Medford came up short against Revere and fell 3-1. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Medford ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Somerville suffered their biggest loss since May 13, 2024 on Friday. They lost 3-0 to Arlington. The Highlanders have struggled against the Spy Ponders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Medford, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Medford might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Somerville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
