Basketball Recap: Meadville Eagles vs. Hale Cardinals
After flying high against the Bevier Wildcats last Wednesday, the Meadville Eagles came back down to earth. Meadville received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 73-57 to the Cardinals. Meadville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Thursday.
Gauge Shiflett and Donivan Schreckhise certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Shiflett scored 15 points along with two steals, while Schreckhise dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentyn Smith, who scored five points.
Meadville now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Hale, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meadville is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hale will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Red Birds at 7:30 p.m. on February 15th.
