It was fun while it lasted, but Liberty's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Wednesday. They fell 27-14 to the Shadow Ridge Mustangs. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, don't look at Kaylie Phillips. Despite the final result, she rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown.

Leading Shadow Ridge to victory were Savanna McDow and Jaylani Palmer. McDow rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, while Palmer gained 131 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave McDow a new career-high in rushing yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Liberty fell to 8-1. As for Shadow Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

After both having extra time off, Liberty and Bishop Gorman will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Bishop Gorman's defense has only allowed 12.9 points per game this season, so Liberty's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Shadow Ridge, they will host Arbor View at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
