The Madison Blue Streaks will face off against the Perry Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Madison 2.8, Perry 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Madison is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Edgewood just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Streaks have suffered against the Warriors since April 29, 2022.

Kara Mekulsia was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Mekulsia wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gianna LaMarco, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Perry got the win against Conneaut on Wednesday by a conclusive 16-3. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Madison, Perry also got a great game from a two-way player: Morgan Winters. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Winters was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madeline Infalvi was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sydney Collins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Perry has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Madison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madison came up short against Perry in their previous matchup on April 7th, falling 6-1. Will the Blue Streaks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
