Basketball Recap: Ellie Jacobs Key Part of a Team Effort in Gryphons Win

New Covenant won the last time they faced Timberlake Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The New Covenant Gryphons were the clear victor by a 42-16 margin over the Timberlake Christian Tornadoes. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Gryphons had established a 21 point advantage.

New Covenant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellie Jacobs led the charge by putting up five points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Jacobs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Alicia Kenny was another key player, earning eight points and seven boards.

New Covenant has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Timberlake Christian, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

New Covenant has already played their next matchup (against Lynchburg HomeSchool), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Timberlake Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-31 defeat against Westover Christian Academy on the 17th.
