Baseball Game Preview: Fenwick Friars vs. Glenbrook North Spartans

The Fenwick Friars will challenge the Glenbrook North Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fenwick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Glenbrook North will be up against a hot Fenwick team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Friars were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over IC Catholic Prep on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Friars have won by exactly 11 runs.

Fenwick got a great performance from Harrison Dragus as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Dragus a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, JJ Obaldo was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Josh Morgan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fenwick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Glenbrook North suffered their biggest loss since April 23, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 12-1 to New Trier.

The victory got Fenwick back to even at 6-6-1. As for Glenbrook North, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-7.
