Basketball Recap: Southern Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sterling

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern). They put the hurt on the Sterling Jets with a sharp 59-39 victory on Friday. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 48-18 win the Jets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Southern's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Sterling, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Southern and Sterling could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Southern will face off against Sacred Heart on Tuesday down 180 places (215 vs. 35). Meanwhile, Sterling (ranked 241st) will meet Lourdes Central Catholic (ranked 53rd) on Tuesday.
