Basketball Recap: Patrick Henry Takes a Loss

Patrick Henry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 74-55 fall against the Corona del Mar Sea Kings. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Sea Kings are ranked 56th).

When it comes to explaining why Patrick Henry lost, don't look at Jacob Baker. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Baker has posted since back in January. Isaac Weatherred was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Patrick Henry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Patrick Henry's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Corona del Mar, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.

Patrick Henry will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Helix at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Corona del Mar, they will face off against Fountain Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
