Football Recap: Herriman Starts Season with Victory Against Bountiful + How To Watch

Herriman had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Bountiful RedHawks as they made off with a 27-7 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Mustangs just coasted through the last quarter.

Tyler Messer looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 226 yards and a pair of TDs, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

Herriman's run defense was locked in: Bountiful could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Troy Ellermeier for the heroic effort on defense: he. Herriman's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.6.

Herriman's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by MacRae Parker and Kemper Castro, who racked up four sacks between them. Another thorn in Bountiful's side was Ellermeier, who made ten total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Bountiful lost, don't look at Siaki Fekitoa. Despite the final result, he rushed for 76 yards and one score, and also picked up 35 receiving yards.

Coming up, Herriman will face off against Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bountiful, they will take on Farmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
