Basketball Game Preview: Oregon Hawks vs. Mendota Trojans

The Oregon Hawks will head out to square off against the Mendota Trojans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Oregon was able to grind out a solid win over Stillman Valley, taking the game 48-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Meanwhile, Mendota had just enough and edged Erie-Prophetstown out 53-51 on Friday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Panthers are ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oregon's record now sits at 16-13. As for Mendota, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Oregon came up short against Mendota in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 82-72. Can Oregon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
