Baseball Recap: Batesville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Marion

Batesville's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Mountain Home on Tuesday. The Pioneers never let the Marion Patriots get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pioneers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Cole Bentz's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Batesville is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jake Daughtery was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Batesville is 3-1 when Daughtery posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

Batesville's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Marion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Batesville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Marion: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
