Basketball Recap: Bonita Springs Triumphs

Island Coast came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Bonita Springs, but Sydney Swanner wouldn't allow it. The Bonita Springs Bullsharks came out on top against the Island Coast Gators by a score of 42-29 on Thursday thanks in part to Swanner, who went 10 of 15 on her way to 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

When it comes to explaining why Island Coast lost, don't look at Samarrah Desir. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points. That was a full 41.4% of Island Coast's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamieryah Davis, who had five points.

Bonita Springs' victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Island Coast, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Bonita Springs will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cypress Lake at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Island Coast, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 40-6 win against Immokalee on the 20th.
