Volleyball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Coronado

Foothill faced Coronado in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Falcons fell 3-1 to the Cougars. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Foothill started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24.

Foothill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gregory Jenkins, who had 20 digs and one assist, and Hayden Mauro, who had nine kills and nine digs. Mauro is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had nine or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 20-15. As for Coronado, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 35-2.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Foothill will face off against Shadow Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coronado, they will take on Green Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
