Baseball Recap: East Lyme's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

East Lyme had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Griswold Wolverines as they made off with a 12-2 win. Considering the Vikings have won four matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Sevigney tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrison Biggs, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since April 1st. Ryan Wargo was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

East Lyme hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

East Lyme's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Griswold, they moved to 3-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lyme will welcome South Windsor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Griswold, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harvard Ellis Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
