Baseball Recap: Dora Wins Going Away Against Thoreau

Dora's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Thoreau Hawks with a sharp 28-10 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Coyotes considering their two-run performance the game before.

Trevin Niece was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Niece was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Ashton Davis and Isaac Jasso did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Jasso scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those five runs gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Timmy Neal, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Dora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thoreau only posted an OBP of .457.

The win got Dora back to even at 1-1. As for Thoreau, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Dora didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 24-6 loss against Grady on the 22nd. As for Thoreau, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 22-3 defeat against Estancia on the 22nd.
