Softball Recap: Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves vs. Northwood Chargers
Cedar Ridge put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past the Northwood Chargers 13-4. That's more bragging rights for Cedar Ridge, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Charlotte Lowry made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Lowry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Lowry was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.
In other batting news, Madeline Galindo-Woodring was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-5. Another player making a difference was Kimber Shambley, who went 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.
On Northwood's side, Kara Thomas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Talbert, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Cedar Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Northwood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
Cedar Ridge will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Falls Lake at 4:30 p.m. Northwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
