Softball Recap: Indiana Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Indiana had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Ligonier Valley Rams. For the Little Indians, this counts as revenge for the 7-0 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Samantha Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Julia Antonacci, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Rylin Blystone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

The victory got Indiana back to even at 9-9. As for Ligonier Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Indiana will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Punxsutawney at 1:00 p.m. Ligonier Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
