Baseball Game Preview: Creighton Prep Junior Jays vs. Westview Wolverines

The Creighton Prep Junior Jays will head out on the road to square off against the Westview Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Creighton Prep's offense. They fell 3-0 to Pius X on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Junior Jays were not able to get on the board.

Creighton Prep got a good showing from Stephen Patterson, who struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Patterson a new career-low in walks (two).

At the plate, Creighton Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tony Coniglio, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Westview faced Papillion-LaVista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wolverines came out on top against the Monarchs by a score of 10-7.

Creighton Prep's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Creighton Prep took their win against Westview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Junior Jays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
