Soccer Game Preview: Assumption vs. Mauston

Assumption is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to defend their home pitch against the Mauston Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Assumption's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Assumption fell victim to Wausau West and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Mauston unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Sparta on Thursday, falling 6-0. The defeat continues a trend for Mauston in their meetings with Sparta: they've now lost five in a row.

Everything went Assumption's way against Mauston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Assumption made off with a 4-1 win. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
