Basketball Recap: South Newton Gets the Win

Tri-County came into Friday's contest looking for another win against South Newton, but Colton Marks wouldn't allow it. The Rebels strolled past the Cavaliers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-49 thanks in part to Marks, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 34 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of South Newton's points.

Another player making a difference was Matthew Armstrong, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. He has become a key player for South Newton: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least ten boards, but 3-9 otherwise.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Burns, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Burns also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Trey Foster was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight boards.

South Newton's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Tri-County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.

South Newton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-48 defeat against Pioneer on the 31st. As for Tri-County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-44 loss against Caston on the 31st.
