Baseball Recap: Chaparral Takes a Loss

Chaparral extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Regis Jesuit Raiders. The contest marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Beckett Bacon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Chaparral is 7-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chaparral saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryne Dodson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Regis Jesuit, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

On Regis Jesuit's side, Hudson Alpert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Alpert has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Olson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

Chaparral didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 18-8 victory against Highlands Ranch on the 28th. As for Regis Jesuit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 win against ThunderRidge on the 28th.
