Basketball Game Preview: Bruce Trojans vs. South Pontotoc Cougars + Official Tickets

Bruce hasn't had much luck against South Pontotoc recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

After dropping their season opener at home, South Pontotoc is headed out to face a Trojans team ready to give their home crowd a win. Bruce received a blow on Friday as they fell 73-55 to Houlka.

Despite their defeat, Bruce saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ayden Welch, who posted 20 points and five boards, was perhaps the best of all. Welch is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 42% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. JaColbi Clark was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Pontotoc is still winless after their matchup against Oxford on Thursday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chargers.

Bruce was taken down by South Pontotoc 65-21 in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for the Trojans, Nash Guerin (who shot 50% from the field on his way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
