Baseball Recap: Carter Extends Winning Streak to Six

Carter had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They blew past the Conrad Chargers 15-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-6 on Tuesday.

Jermiah Castillo made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Carter: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Carter got a massive performance out of Jeremiah Smith, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Smith a new career-high. Sheared Brooks was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Carter pushed their record up to 7-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Conrad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.
