Basketball Recap: Jennings County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Columbus East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jennings County). They came out on top against the Columbus East Olympians by a score of 80-71 on Friday. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Olympians, too.

Jennings County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeremiah Davis out in front who posted 21 points and seven rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Napier, who went 8-for-12 en route to 22 points.

Jennings County was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Columbus East still got an impressive performance from Keaton Lawson, who dropped a triple-double with 21 points, 11 boards, and 12 assists. Columbus East is 8-1 when Lawson posts ten or more rebounds, but 3-8 otherwise. Grayson Watters also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Jennings County's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Columbus East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Jennings County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-69 defeat against Jeffersonville on the 15th. As for Columbus East, they will head out to challenge Madison at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st.
