Football Recap: Williams Takes Down St. David in a Playoff Battle + How To Watch

Williams extended their postseason success on Friday against St. David. They took down the Tigers 58-40. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Williams was led to victory by Kyle Mendoza and Jack Dent. Mendoza picked up 196 receiving yards and six touchdowns, while Dent threw for 433 yards and seven TDs while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt. Dent's passing game has become a key predictor of the Vikings' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. Mario Pedraza helped Dent out on the ground, rushing for 86 yards and one score, while also picking up 70 receiving yards.

Williams didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited St. David to a completion percentage of just 42.1%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Dent and Joshua Rue-Wilbur, who each logged one passes deflected. Williams wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 64.7%.

Williams' defensive line didn't let Vincent Ciccariello, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Mendoza with two.

Despite the loss, St. David still got an impressive performance from Chase Pacheco, who picked up 78 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Pacheco also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles.

Williams' record is now 7-4. As for St. David, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Williams didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-18 defeat against Bagdad on the 8th. St. David does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
