Softball Recap: Castro Valley Triumphs

Castro Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Whitney on Saturday. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Wildcats.

Miley Snellgrove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alanys Robertson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alicya Robertson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Castro Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Whitney, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Castro Valley will welcome Berkeley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Whitney, they are taking a road trip to take on Del Oro at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
