Baseball Game Preview: Dieterich Movin Maroons vs. Farina South Central Cougars

Dieterich is 1-7 against Farina South Central since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Movin Maroons will welcome the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. The last four games Dieterich has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Dieterich turned things around against Cumberland on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Movin Maroons have posted since May 4, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Gavin Meinhart, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Keck, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Farina South Central entered their tilt with Richland County on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 12-8.

Evan Hoover was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Farina South Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Zane Montes was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Farina South Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Farina South Central now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Dieterich, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
