Baseball Recap: Wendell Trojans vs. Firth Cougars

Wendell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Firth Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 last Thursday.

Deegan Prince put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Julian Ponce made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Wendell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Firth, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Coming up, Wendell will welcome Soda Springs at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Firth, they will head out on the road to face off against Malad at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
