Softball Recap: Emery Finds Playoff Glory Versus South Summit

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Emery had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the South Summit Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won four games in a row.

Kallee Lake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katelyn Nielson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was TaiLynn Minchey, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Emery hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Summit struck out ten times.

Emery pushed their record up to 19-11 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for South Summit, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-12.

Emery does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Summit, they will take on Juab at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
