Volleyball Recap: Affton Comes Up Short

The Affton Cougars came up short against the Villa Duchesne Saints on Monday, falling 3-0. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-10.

Despite the loss, Affton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ali Meyers had 24 digs and two aces. Meyers is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Mallori Martinez also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Affton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Villa Duchesne, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7.

Coming up, Affton is taking a road trip to square off against Ritenour at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Villa Duchesne, they will take on Cor Jesu Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
