Softball Recap: Powdersville Wins Going Away Against Travelers Rest

On Tuesday, the Powdersville Patriots made easy work of the Travelers Rest Devildogs and carried off a 14-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Kylie Powell made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Powell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Lilee Lugo and Ellison Wood did most of the damage at the plate: Lugo scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Wood scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Wood a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Kaylie Evatt, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Powdersville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Powdersville now has a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Powdersville will be taking part in a tournament against Belton-Honea Path at 6:00 p.m. on March 4th. As for Travelers Rest, they are taking a road trip to challenge Landrum at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
