Recap: Frassati Catholic Falcons vs. Emery/Weiner
The Frassati Catholic Falcons's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Emery/Weiner out 58-55. The win was all the more spectacular given Frassati Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1374th, while Emery/Weiner is ranked 625th).
Despite the loss, Emery/Weiner still got an impressive performance from Matthew Mintz, who scored 16 points. Mintz scored a full 29.1% of Emery/Weiner's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Frassati Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Emery/Weiner, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frassati Catholic will take on Fort Bend Christian Academy on Friday. One thing working in Fort Bend Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Emery/Weiner, they will head out on the road to face off against St. John XXIII at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th.
