Baseball Recap: Union Triumphs

While Union's win against Camas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Papermakers 3-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 9-2 win on Tuesday.

Jacob Chandler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Union is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Chandler was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Union is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Camas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union will square off against Battle Ground at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.1, the Tigers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Camas, they will take on Skyview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Storm's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Papermakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
