Basketball Recap: St. John's Islanders vs. Burke Bulldogs
St. John lost against Burke back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. John's Islanders were dealt an 80-41 defeat at the hands of the Burke Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 25th).
Burke found their leader in sophomore Juel Mack, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Mack's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Nelson, who posted 16 points.
This is the second loss in a row for St. John's and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Burke, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
St. John's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-24 loss against Academic Magnet on the 30th. As for Burke, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-54 victory against Stall on the 30th.
