Volleyball Recap: Foothill Falcons vs. California Grizzlies
Foothill was the 3-0 winner over California when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Grizzlies 25-15 in the first set.
Foothill actually scored more points across those five sets (100-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 15-9.
California was led to victory by Beau Banta and Evan Bautista. Banta had six digs, two blocks, and two aces, while Bautista had 26 digs and three aces. Those 26 digs gave Bautista a new career-high. Jathin Chandhra Ravilla also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.
This is the second loss in a row for Foothill and nudges their season record down to 21-10. As for California, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Foothill will square off against rival Amador Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are on a six-game streak of home wins, the Dons a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Meanwhile, California is set to take on their familiar foe De La Salle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
