Despite the loss, Sylva Bay Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Livy Shumock posted ten points along with six boards and three steals. Lily Hatcher was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Sylva Bay Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Discovery Christian played a tough game back in December of 2024 in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Sylva Bay Academy, falling 35-12. Discovery Christian was down 29-4 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Discovery Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sylva Bay Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Everything went Sylva Bay Academy's way against Discovery Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Sylva Bay Academy made off with a 35-12 win.
