Football Recap: West Port Wolf Pack vs. Apopka Blue Darters
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Port can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Apopka Blue Darters. The game marked the first time this year in which the Wolf Pack were not able to get on the board.
Jhenelle Francis was her usual excellent self, rushing for 172 yards and three scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes for Apopka. The dominant performance also gave Francis a new career-high in passer rating (143.8). Apopka's leading receiver Anabela Hart was Francis' top target yet again, picking up 120 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
West Port has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Apopka, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
West Port does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Apopka, they will host Mandarin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Blue Darters surely won't give up without a fight.
