Basketball Recap: Raymond Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Raymond Central hadn't done well against Malcolm recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Raymond Central Mustangs snuck past the Malcolm Clippers with a 48-44 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs who have now won three contests in a row.

Raymond Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Masek, who posted 13 points and five steals. Masek is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Alexa Otto was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Malcolm's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Dolliver, who had 16 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 36.4% of Malcolm's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lena Schmidt, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 boards.

Raymond Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Malcolm, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raymond Central will host Douglas County West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Raymond Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. Malcolm and Platteview will compete for holiday cheer on Thursday.
