Baseball Game Preview: Whitko Wildcats vs. New Haven Bulldogs

The Whitko Wildcats will head out to face off against the New Haven Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Wildcats fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They never let Churubusco get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Eagles on their field since March 28, 2017.

Riley Harman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Harman was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Whitko got a big performance out of Daton Day, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Day has posted since back in April of 2024. Breyden Kirkdorffer was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, New Haven narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Eastside 6-4.

Whitko might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from New Haven in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
