Volleyball Recap: Caylee Velez Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Mount Calm

Buckholts posted their closest win since October 23, 2024 on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past Mount Calm 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Badgers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (55-52) Buckholts actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Buckholts' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caylee Velez led the charge by getting nine digs and three aces. Velez has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played.

Buckholts now has a winning record of 2-1.

Buckholts wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Three Way on the 14th. As for Mount Calm, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Itasca at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
