Football Recap: Baker Bulldogs vs. Scappoose Indians
Baker couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Scappoose Indians on Friday, falling 55-28. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 54-28 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Max Nowlin was a one-man wrecking crew for Scappoose as he threw for 433 yards and three touchdowns while completing 86.5% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. That's the most total yards Nowlin has posted since back in September of 2023. Landon Lite was Nowlin's top target, picking up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Scappoose and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Baker will square off against Marshfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Baker is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road dating back to last season. As for Scappoose, they will welcome Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
